The New Viagra
Remember when you were little, biting into a sweet, juicy, cold watermelon slice? Nothing better on a hot summer day – especially in Texas. Well, it turns out that sweet, juicy melon is more than something that just tasted good.
Watermelon may offer Viagra-like results
Watermelons contain an ingredient called citrulline that can trigger production of a compound that helps relax the body’s blood vessels, similar to what happens when a man takes Viagra, said scientists in Texas, one of the nation’s top producers of the seedless variety.
Mom always said to eat more fruit.
I can just see the price of watermelon increasing because of a higher rate of demand.
But look at what the study also found:
According to one of the researches Bhimu Patil, “Watermelon may not be as organ-specific as Viagra, but it’s a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side effects.”
As someone with hypertension, I guess I’ll be one of those grabbing for that last watermelon at the store too.
