Chris Matthews has a Hardball for Coulter

July 7, 2007

I used to have respect for him as a journalist, but it just keeps sliding down into the sewer. I don’t know how anyone can respect the vitriolic drool that slimes its maggot-infested way out of Coulter’s mouth. Thanks to the folks at mediabloodhound.com, Matthews’ fawning all over Coultergeist is beginning to make cents. No, that’s not a typo.

Short version: Both are authors…can you see where this is going? Crown Forum, which is part of Crown Publishing, is under the umbrella of Random House, Matthews’ publisher. Shock! Awe!

And our clever bloodhounds have also uncovered the following additional bedfellow: Both Matthews and Coulter have books coming out on October 2, 2007.

Now then, let’s take a glimpse into the interview that our scholarly journalist partook with Coultergiest. I’m only printing his parts because she’s so…over quoted?

Emphasis in Matthews’ quotes are from mediabloodhounds:

MATTHEWS: That’s why she’s a best-seller. You are a controversial lady, you write beautifully. You have a brilliant brain.

MATTHEWS: I stayed up last night reading your chapter on Willie Horton, which was absolutely stunning it its satire. It reminded me of the young George Will

MATTHEWS: OK, I‘m just trying to figure out your—look, you’re brilliant.

MATTHEWS: But the book is written so well, and then you get to these points, it’s like you said, now I’ll put it in. If I put the shiv in now, this book will really make noise and people like me will complain about it and you’ll sell another 100,000 copies.

MATTHEWS: You’re doing very well. By the way, your books are doing very well. And we’ve had you on every time you’ve had a book. And I think we’ve always gotten along, so let’s not ruin it. Okay? Let’s move on.

For a show titled “Hardball” the questions sure are soft. Soft interview questions for a “guest” who’s stated:

“Is your tape recorder running? Turn it on! I got something to say.”
Then she said: “My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building.”

Matthews, you have sold out. Is it that you’re both Roman Catholics? Is it that you both share a conservative philosophy? Is it that you both put the almighty buck in front of the truth? Is it your mid-life crisis?

While you may have a hardball for her, you only threw softballs. Your days of serious journalism have been teetering – now it looks like you’re in free fall mode.

  1. No big surprise here. Matthews use to be my fave. No longer. I don’t know who in the hell filled his pockets with gold, but someone did. Or else maybe he simply sees the truth of the New Broadcast Media Agenda, locked in place, thanks to two stolen elections and the evil behind it. These are not humans. I don’t know who / what they are, but it’s a brave new world. And Matthews bought in. They must have made a very convincing argument, cause I thought he would be the last to go down. Wrong.

Turn off the TV and read the blogs.
