Legal bribery

April 27, 2008

I’m guessing if you’re reading this, you’re not one of the wealthy Americans. If you are one of those lucky wealthy ones -oh yeah, it was luck – then you seriously need to get a life.

Bribery is legal…if you’re a lobbyist. And if you follow some, ho-hum “strict” guidelines.

Let’s look at the top lobbyists and who they support. This is only a partial list.

Lobbyists donating to Democrats:

American Federation of St, County, and Municipal Employees
American Association for Justice
Goldman Sachs
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
Laborers Union
Service Employees Int’l Union
Carpenters & Joiners Union
Communications Workers of America
United Auto Workers
Am. Federation of Teachers
Machinist & Aerospace Workers
United Food & Commerical Workers
EMILY’s List
Nat’l Ass’n of Letter Carriers
Time Warner
Sheet Metal Workers Union
Plumbers & Pipefitters Union
Nat’l Committee to Preserve Social Security & Medicare

Lobbyists donating to Republicans:

Altria (Philip Morris)
Nat’l Auto Dealers Ass’n
Fed Ex
Nat’l Ass’n of Home Builders
American Bankers Association
National Beer Wholesalers Ass’n (Cindy McCain, anyone?)
National Rifle Association
Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu – very important. Think Enron. This company does NOT want stronger regulation of the financial consultant industry. Again, REMEMBER ENRON.
Union Pacific
Price Waterhouse
RJRNabisco/RJ Reynolds Tobacco

Take a long hard look at the list. Notice anything?

Don’t take my word for it. Check out the profiles of the donors.
