Don’t tell me the truth, tell me what I want to hear

35091541.040605024HeadSpinningEyesForwardSound familiar? It’s how Bush jr.’s admin handled him (and you know how that worked out…right?)

My head is spinning from all this reading. I started out reading about oil companies and wound up learning about the Global Climate Coalition. Follow the money, follow the money, follow the money.

Here’s the gist of GCC: It was a lobbyist group that withheld important global warming information provided to them by their scientists.

Shock! Gasp!

Here’s the line they omitted in their report: “the scientific basis for the Greenhouse Effect and the potential impact of human emissions of greenhouse gases such as CO2 on climate is well-established and cannot be denied.”

Now why, pray tell, would they want that teensy weensy little factoid left out? And Kauli, why are you so upset about it – the GCC disbanded in 2002?! Just go  put on an estrogen patch and relaaaaaaax.True, the lobbying group did fold 7 years ago.  On the surface, it doesn’t appear that they were very influential. After all, Global Climate Coalition spent less than a quarter of a mil from ’98 – ’01. Seems harmless enough, right? And the name sounds practically Kermitty Green, so it would favor the environment, right?

The saying, “beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing” was made for people like this.

The nearly 70 members spent over 600 million dollars influencing the government from ’98 -’01. After its demise, the members have continued to flex their influential muscle to the tune of $1.7 BILLION in the last 7 years.

Follow the money. Look at the GCC members. The link is at the bottom of their page, so while you’re there, read the entire page. But make sure you haven’t eaten, ’cause right now, I feel like throwing up. Seriously, for some, it really doesn’t matter about others living – it’s if they die with the most, then they’ve won. Even if they kill off future generations by destroying the planet.
