I am a proud liberal

August 30, 2009

I doubt if there’s anyone who is capable of decidely picking up and carrying the torch that Senator Kennedy did for so long. I grew up in the 60s,   witness to such a deeply historic time. It is why I have such intolerance for neocons who are quickly becoming the speakers of the Republican party, drowning out their moderate colleagues. To Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Rove, Cheney, Palin, Bachmann, and all of their cohorts – there is a special place in hell reserved for you all. Your devicivness  and blatant lies that you scream out (evidently they believe the louder they are the more truthful they appear to be) are mindful of petulant children who’ve been at the feeding trough too long and find yourself without dessert.

Enough pandering to bipartisanship. Push the original health care bill  through and to hell with the naysayers. Find your goddamned backbone and just do it.

Mark Karlin has a great post over at Buzz Flash

And I remember at Yale — many, many years ago — when he came to speak to the political union.  Protestors were advocating violence as a solution to a political issue of the time and interrupted his remarks.  Kennedy let them have their say and then — his voice audibly breaking and trembling — admonished them that he knew personally the toll that violence takes upon a family and that it was not what our nation was about, nor would it yield anything but loss and pain.  You could have heard a pin drop as he sucked the air out of the room with his spontaneous reaction from the depth of a wounded heart.

I am a Liberal.  I am a PROUD Liberal. And I will never feel intimidated, ashamed, or threatened by those of you who aren’t. Ever. Again.

Oh boy, looks like I was wrong

July 15, 2009

…about Ron Paul. Dammit, I was having a good day; had researched health care and had most of the post written. I’ll save it for another day.

You know, I was so pissed off at what little Bush’s admin was doing to  – or attempting to do – the Constitution, that when Ron Paul spoke about the Constitution, I was relieved that someone remembered what that document was. Little did I know what he really thought. Read the rest of this entry ?

Congratulations to Audra Shay

July 12, 2009

s-AUDRA-SHAY-largeWow, who’d have thunk it?! I’m all tingly with the news. Racism getting you elected to chair the Jr. KK…oops, my bad, I mean the Young Republicans! I’m just soooo surprised. Your election after self-protestations of innocence and even more racist comments (of your own, not your followers) is truly an affirmation of why I abhor Conservatism and all that it has come to be known for.

“Elections bring a lot of emotion out of people,” said delegate Katherine Miller, 24, Lexington, Ky. ‘But this controversy really is not the decisive factor for the majority of people voting here. There are so many important issues we are considering. It really has been played up a little bigger than it really is.’ ” Which implies that Ms. Miller and others don’t take race-baiting seriously.  Perhaps she needs to study American history a little more thoroughly;  failure to understand how that weaves itself into today’s “important issues” is a failure to understand the role of America’s past and future.

But hey, congratulations Ms. Shay.  You have clearly defined the future of your party. I’m sure that your honorary robe is on its way.

Was that too much? Over the line? Good.

What a week

June 27, 2009

I expect that we’ll be hearing soon from the Weeble Wobbler of North Korea. First he became pissed over what was happening in Iran – stealing his attention. Little rat bastard needs to be taken care of. His people are starving and laying dead in the streets, and he wants to kill more. Probably trying to set his son up to be as feared by his people as he is.It’s okay little man – you will be dealt with once and for all if you try anything.

Did you read the emails between Gov. Sanford and his mistress?  Now those were some seriously hot notes! I had to turn the a/c down and soak in a tub of ice after reading them. Funny, Sanford and the others who wanted to hang Clinton over the cigar are ready to embrace Sanford. Hypocrites. They don’t want you having sex, but they want all they can get. You know, it’s beginning to sound like Rush is jealous of Obama – really, blaming Obama because Sanford had an affair? WTF?! Life in Rushland, room for only 1.

Gracious concession? Don’t think so.

November 5, 2008

It’s been a long campaign process. It had to be. I’m kind of tired of hearing what a gracious concession speech McCain gave. Bullshit. Yep, you read it right…bullshit.

He had the opportunity, the perfect opportunity with a global audience listening, to set this nation off on the right foot and truly prove what a “maverick” he is. He could have put a nail in the coffin of the hate that has been brewing by those on the far right. He could have assured their bigoted little minds that President Obama is not a terrorist. Not the anti-Christ. He could have made a statement about how the “kill him” remarks needed to stop.

You don’t think that he wants to perpetuate that kind of stuff do you? The angry man?

Nah. Of course not. Why change the tone that we’ve had to listen to for the last 8 years. “You’re either with us or your against us.” Still the mantra.

Refresher: She’s Just Workin’ for God White Nationalism

Race-baiting, trying to bring this nation back to the mindset of earlier times. Times when things were “separate but equal”, move to the back of the bus, drink from a different fountain, 3/5 of a human.

Recreate  and foster a fear of the black man in the white soul and the world…or at least this election…can be yours. Or so appears the rhetoric from the Republicans McCain & Palin. Perhaps their campaign architects are too young to remember (or they weren’t yet conceived) when JFK was assassinated, when Robert Kennedy was assassinated, when Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. But I remember. And that is why I find this last ditch effort by the McCain campaign to be the most despicable.

For many months the propaganda of hate has been covertly and overtly encouraged by McCain. His tactic is to win at any cost. He and Palin are throwing every diversion possible out there, knowing that they are lying and raising the level of hate. (Can you imagine the diplomacy with which they’d deal with Putin???)

There’s your October surprise people. The spoiled, who feel entitled, are trying to sink the ship that we’re all on – simply because they can’t accept defeat.  That’s how much they care about us.

It’s one thing to lose an election. It’s another to be total losers in life. Congratulations McCain & Palin. You win the gold medal of Nazi-ism; feel better now?

Fear of something is at the root of hate for others, and hate within will eventually destroy the hater.
